Mushroom Head Series

This project was an initial exploration of an interdisciplinary practice with Mycology.

By using cardboard and paper mache, I created sculptures to house mushroom grow kits. By using the human face, I reflect back the human experience within my pieces.

Taking inspiration from a workshop I attended with cardboard artist James Lake, I built around a Merryhill Mushrooms grow kit using cardboard and hot glue.

Developing my cardboard sculpture to include paper mache, this piece, inspired by Simon Faithfull's Biotopes series, was an exploration of Oyster mushrooms and the human form.

Here I practice a self portrait in clay, developing into my next Mushroom Head piece where I start to explore this unfamiliar medium.
