Shiv Price

Shiv is a vibrant and adaptable mixed media artist who lets her practice-led processes define the development of her projects. Based in Devon, she is inspired by the natural beauty of the world around her.

In 2025, Shiv completed her FdA Contemporary Arts Practice, and is now primarily working with an interdisciplinary interest in Mycology and sculpture, using living fungi as a medium. Her varied experimental processes highlight the potential fungi has as a catalyst for change, from building communities to shaping environments. She is actively challenging western mycophobia by offering a revitalising view of the symbiotic relationships fungi model throughout the entirety of Earth's evolution.

 

Drawing inspiration from the human experience, the natural world and the wider universe, Shiv’s work is complimented with philosophical and scientific observations. Curious about the paradoxes of the human experience, her aims are to observe and critique modern technology, consumerism, and the deconstruction of societal norms by connecting her audience to new perspectives of their own inner worlds through vibrant, reflective pieces that exude elements of sensory stimulation. By using fungi as a medium she hopes to inspire a new generation to understand the importance of community and mutual aid in a world that desperately needs to reconnect.

 

Shiv’s focus on taking her work further by developing her varied physical practices into digital artworks enables her to bridge the gap between the traditional and contemporary art worlds. Her realistic observations of society and pop culture are met with light-hearted and humoured optimism which ensure a relaxed accessibility to a wider audience. Her work forces the observer to question their own preconceived ideas and encourages them to implement this line of thinking into their personal lives, shifting narratives for the betterment of society on a wider level.
